Do you love those distressed, hand-rubbed, shabby chic pieces that have the unique velvety matte finish? Do you have a special piece of furniture at home that you would love to transform but you're not quite sure how? We'll we will provide the how-to, tips, tricks, inspiration, and support you need to get started.

Students will learn the basics of using van Gogh Chalk/Furniture Paint as well different distressing techniques and the proper application of van Gogh wax. Each student will leave with 5 beautiful samples, a hand painted chart of every colour and the enthusiasm and expertise to go home and finish a piece of furniture!

FURNITURE MAKE-UP CLASSES

Instructor:  Miss Laura

Take your chalk paint expertise to the next level.  Our advanced class uses van Gogh Furniture Makeup to enhance your furniture refinishing.  You will learn how to use our stencils, Paint Crackle, Luminous Eye Shadow, Moon Glaze, Antiquing Glaze and Embossing Plaster to create some extra special creative affects that will really add that special pizzazz to your projects and really set your work apart. Each student will create 5 different samples to take home. Come & be amazed at how easy it is to create stunning pieces.  Check out our Pinterest board to see some examples of the various techniques you will learn in class as well as project ideas.

I'd like to thank Kathy for flying out to "lil old Coaldale" to share her amazing wealth of knowledge with us at the first of many more la TaDa! workshops.

I would also like to thank all the lovely ladies who joined us for our very first workshop weekend. Thanks so much for supporting la TaDa! (one of your local "brick & mortar" shops.) "Brick & mortar" shops are very much in danger of extinction in Canada so we greatly appreciate your support. It will be because of fabulously supportive people like you that we hope to always have interesting, unique local shops available to us and won't be stuck with only big box & online shopping, what a boring world that would be. 

I look forward to seeing everyone's future projects now that you have the techniques & knowledge under our belt. ADVANCED CLASS

$250 - includes materials for class

Instructor: Kathy van Gogh

Take your chalk paint expertise to the next level.  Our advanced class uses van Gogh Chalk Paint Collection Furniture Makeup to enhance your furniture refinishing.  We cover Crackle, Ancient Crackle, Luminous Eye Shadow and Embossing Plaster techniques. Each student will create 6 stunning samples of "Carved Wood", Old World, and Contemporary Bling finishes that will set your work apart.  Come & be amazed at how easy it is to create stunning pieces.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! It has been such a dream come true opening la TaDa! in March of 2012 and even though I've been busier than I've ever been in my life I'm so thankful to everyone who has supported la TaDa! I'd also like to give a special thank you & God bless to my parents who have helped me so much. Also a shout out to my sis Tammy & her Rick as well as some great friends, Cynthia, Suzen, Doris, Val & Pam who have

been so supportive.

I have been super busy in my imagination station to come up with new ideas to create just for you & can't wait to hit the studio in the coming months to be able to bring you some great new lovelies for your home & life. 

I am also delighted to announce that the lovely Kathy van Gogh will be here Feb.15 & 16 for painting workshops, both beginner & advanced. I'll be posting all the details next week.

finally TRANSFORMED!!!

Was I telling a little white lie on my last post?... I said I would be posting pics soon... is 6 months later soon? I've been so busy setting up shop that I haven't had any time for my poor little blog. I've also been busy decluttering & organizing my studio so when I finally find time to create I'm ready to go. I would love to show you some pics but it's still quite messy, very much NOT like those lovely studios in one of my fave magazines "Where Women Create".  One of my dreams is to someday have a studio that looks like it jumped out of the pages of the magazine but I digress... here after all this time are the pics of the transformation of the building I TADA'd into la TaDa! vintage boutique & creative studio.

A Dream Come True! GRAND OPENING MARCH 1, 2012

Well my blog & shop are not quite ready but I'm so excited about my shop opening I just couldn't wait to let you know all about my dream come true!

After dreaming about opening my own little boutique for at least 20 years, well actually more but I don't want to date myself, I'm finally doing it and I couldn't be more thrilled, excited, nervous etc. etc. etc. I'm still in the renovation process so here are some "before" pics. Check back soon to see a delightful difference in the "after" pics.

I am pleased to be offering vintage finds, home decor, gift-ware, jewelry, aromatherapy, lovely books & magazines for your home, garden & life! I'm super excited to announce that I will be carrying the fabulous Annie Sloan Chalk Paints, an amazing product that can do in one step what usually takes three. Non-toxic, great coverage and a range of beautiful colours, it is a wonderful new tool I am so pleased to share with you.  la TaDa! will be having the first of many Annie Sloan workshops with the lovely Tara Lauren from Lauren Lane Decor who loves do-it-yourself and has a passion for bringing old furniture/treasures back to life. She has a wealth of knowledge to share with us at the workshop. Classes are from 10am to 5pm and include materials & lunch.  The first workshop is planned for Saturday, March 3rd.

See you at the grand opening Thursday, March 1st, 2012. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 6pm.
